On August 23rd, the Tri-State Diversity Counsel held its 8th Annual Diversity & Leadership Conference at The New Yorker Hotel in New York, New York. The morning session was kicked off by keynote speaker Melissa Ben-Ishay, Founder, President and Chief Product Officer of Baked by Melissa. After Melissa’s speech, the awards for the 2018 Most Powerful & Influential Women were presented. This was followed by morning break-out sessions where those in attendance had an opportunity to learn more about topics like, “Leading with Emotional Intelligence,” “ Successful Recruiting, Developing, Engaging & Promoting Diverse Talent” and “Most Powerful & Influential Women’s Roundtable.”
We also had the pleasure of having Carla Moore, VP, POS Strategy & Education of HBO, keynote our awards luncheon in the afternoon. Following Carla’s speech, the awards for the 2018 Leadership of Excellence were handed out. Those in attendance had an opportunity in the afternoon to sit in on another round of breakout sessions. The afternoon topics were “Best ERG/BRS Practices,” “and “Organizational Politics & Power Dynamics.”
