On June 8th, the Tri-State Diversity Council held its inaugural Tri-State HealthCare Diversity Summit at Mount Sinai Health System in New York, NY. The purpose of the Healthcare Diversity Summit is to promote dialogue and action within the healthcare community regarding diversity and inclusion best practices. This year’s theme was “Flipping the Script: Changing the Dialogue of Inclusion in Healthcare.”

The event included a keynote speaker from Westchester Medical Center Health Network and panelists from Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University, Mount Sinai Health System and Weill Cornell Medicine who discussed advancing diversity and inclusion in our workplaces and communities. All three panelists presented a perspective from their own organization, including programs, challenges, and successes that are specific to their industry.

There were roughly 80 attendees from various different organizations and all survey participants gave 100% positive feedback noting they were very satisfied with the event! One survey participant noted the timeliness of the topic choices and the real-world examples and experiences the speakers shared.

We want to thank Mount Sinai Health System and our sponsors, Doctors Without Borders, New York Regional National Association of Health Services Executives, Weill Cornell Medicine and Westchester Medical Center Health Network, for contributing to the success of this event.
