We would first like to welcome our newest Gold corporate partner organization, GreenspoonMarder, to the Florida Diversity Council’s Board of Directors. We look forward to partnering with this firm to promote the importance of diversity and inclusion efforts throughout the state!
Our Florida LGBT-Allies Diversity Summit grew significantly this year, with approximately 180 attendees. Barbara Poma, the Owner of Pulse Night Club & Executive Director of the OnePulse Foundation, served as our program’s keynote speaker and touched everyone in the room. The Summit also comprised a panel that focused on “Beyond the Spectrum: Voices of LGBTQ Allyship,” as well as workshops about legal issues in the LGBT community and transgender issues in the workplace. We would like to greatly thank PSCU, Rasmussen College, and USAA for sponsoring this event.
Based on feedback we have received from corporate partners, individual members, and local business and community leaders throughout Florida, we are incredibly excited to announce that we will launch a brand new program on September 21st known as The Business Case of Diversity & Inclusion. During this event, our speakers will focus on how business and community leaders can leverage D&I to maximize the bottom line. Thank you to PwC for hosting this program and making it possible.
For business leaders who were unable to participate in our Inaugural DiversityFIRST Certification Program that took place in Tampa in 2016 and Orlando in 2017, we will hold the program again this year in Fort Lauderdale at Nova Southeastern University. If you are interested in becoming a certified diversity professional, do not miss out on this great opportunity. If you would like to become involved in the FLDC, please do not hesitate to let us know.
Thank you for your continued support.
