The San Antonio Women In Leadership Symposium, held on March 29, did more than clothe us in wisdom. The Texas Diversity Council partnered with Dress For Success San Antonio to host a clothing drive. This initiative is designed to help women nail that interview, land the job, blaze trails, and look good while doing so! We collected gently-used professional attire such as jackets, pants, dresses, skirts, and shoes.
Dress For Success creates a network of empowerment that goes hand-in-hand with the goal of the Women In Leadership Symposium. This goes beyond a new outfit. This initiative holds a special place in CEO Angeles Valenciano’s heart.
“I know what it’s like to not have clothing for the big interview or taking on a new role that will require business professional attire. Many years ago I was fortunate to have Mary Jean George in my life. She opened up her closet and gave me the outfits that would give me confidence and prepare me for my new role. I hope everyone has an MJ on their side, empowering, supporting, and encouraging you” shared Valenciano.
We had a goal to collect 100 outfits. Thanks to everyone that participated, we are excited to share that we exceeded our goal. We collected a total of 597 donations. Empowered women empower women!
