Promoting youth outreach is rooted in the Texas Diversity Council’s mission. The Texas Diversity Council Officers participated in a statewide volunteer initiative at The Boys & Girls Clubs of America in March. The Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston officers spent International Women’s Day (March 8th) sharing their success and challenges they faced as a youth. Among the conversations were professional goals and how to achieve them.
This initiative impacted the officers just as much as the children. “As a volunteer one cannot go into it with the thought of all they are giving, but rather all that they will receive from the experience,” said La’Reta Jones of the University of Phoenix “it’s often more than they could ever fathom.”
Altogether there were:
- 102 volunteers
- 258 volunteer hours
- 21 Boys & Girls Clubs
- Hundreds of smiling faces
Way to go officers! You can’t be what you can’t see, be the difference you want to see in the world. A special thank you to Gregg Falcon, Dallas Advisory Board Vice President, for organizing this event that made an everlasting impact.
