The Pennsylvania Diversity Council is proud to welcome Spike Lee as the keynote speaker for the 8th Annual Diversity and Leadership Conference. The conference will take place in Philadelphia, PA at the Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue on August 31st. The theme of this year’s conference is “Fostering Equity through Inclusion”.

“It is such an honor to have Spike Lee join us at the Diversity & Leadership Conference,” said Dennis Kennedy, Founder and Chair of the National Diversity Council. “I am excited to hear him share what he has learned about the importance of diversity and inclusion throughout his career.”

Spike Lee is an Emmy Award winning film director, producer, writer, and actor. He created some of his first amateur films by age 20, and went on to receive a Student Academy Award for his graduate thesis at New York University. Lee’s first feature film, She’s Gotta Have It, produced over 7 million dollars in the box office in 1986. Spike Lee’s films and documentaries are known for shedding light on issues such as politics, racism, colorism, and socioeconomic inequality.

The 8th Annual Philadelphia Diversity & Leadership Conference will begin with registration and networking followed by an award ceremony. This year’s awards will be: Most Powerful Women and Multicultural Leadership. Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend various informational sessions covering topics including “Race, Racism, and Privilege,” “Leading with Emotional Intelligence,” and “Millennials in the Workplace.”
