The Pacific Northwest Diversity Council held the 2017 Women in Leadership Symposium on April 18, 2017 hosted by Lane Powell. This annual event attracted attendees from across the state who gathered to hear from local executives about their insights regarding the event theme, “Be Fearless: Influence, Innovate, and Inspire.”

“The event provided a platform for dialogue on issues relating to women in the workplace,” said Angeles Valenciano, CEO of the National Diversity Council. “We’re glad to offer aspiring female leaders in Portland the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and advice from local executives that they can apply to their careers.”

The half-day event featured multiple business leaders from various organizations discussing topics such as “The Difference ‘Difference’ Makes-Double Minority Leadership”, “The Power of No: Defining Your Impact as a Leader” and “Lifting Up the Next Generation of Women”.

The symposium began with a welcome and formal introduction from Jill Long, Partner at Lane Powell PC. Each panelist addressed a specific topic of discussion in addition to engaging with the other panelists regarding the panel topics. Question and answer sessions were also held during the event, promoting participation amongst attendees.

The Pacific Northwest Diversity Council would like to thank the event sponsors for their support of the Women in Leadership Symposium. Photos and program booklets from the symposiums can be found on the Pacific Northwest Timeline.
