On March 25th, multiple businesses and organizations from over 14 counties across North Carolina joined together for the first ever Support Inclusion Saturday. Held in observance of National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, the event aimed to celebrate companies that advocate for the inclusion of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, around 11 percent of individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities are unemployed even though they are willing to work. That’s why Monarch started the grassroots campaign, in an effort to harness our collective power to foster understanding and dispel myths about developmental disabilities, said Peggy Terhune, president and CEO of Monarch.
