Welcome to the second edition of the Tri-State Diversity Council newsletter. We are excited to share some Council updates for this quarter, and discuss some of our upcoming initiatives.

First, we would like to welcome Alexis Abuhadba, to the Tri-State Diversity Council team. Alexa will be joining us this June, and will oversee the Connecticut and New Jersey chapters. We would also like to welcome Risk Strategies as our newest Bronze New York corporate partner organization. We look forward to collaborating with Risk Strategies to promote the importance of diversity and inclusion efforts in New York.

Our June chapter meetings will take place in the middle of the month in CT, NJ, and NY. We encourage you to attend to network with other council members and take advantage of the great educational segments that we will offer. Our discussions throughout the month of June will focus on the impact of implicit bias in our organizations. In Connecticut (June 21st), we will discuss Unconscious Bias in the Workplace; in New Jersey (June 22nd) the topic will be “What is Unconscious Bias Anyway and What Difference Does It Make?”; and in New York (June 23rd) we will present “A Matter of Perspective: Understanding & Recovering from Bias-Motivated Interactions, Part II”. If you would like to attend these meetings, please contact [email protected] for more information.

The Tri-State Diversity Council will launch the first Tri-State Legal Diversity Summit this September at HSBC in NYC. This event aims to highlight the importance and challenges of creating a diverse and inclusive legal profession. You can find more information about the upcoming program here.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of our partners, sponsors, and volunteers who helped make our recent Women in Leadership Symposiums a success! You can read a summary of the events and check out the event photos here.

Sincerely,

Peter Wilson, Jr.
