The Florida Diversity Council proudly presents the 6th Annual Florida Healthcare Diversity Summit taking place on August 18th, 2017 and hosted by Broward Health. This year’s theme is Diversity in Healthcare: It’s time for Action. The 2017 Florida Healthcare Diversity Summit will bring together some of the brightest minds and most credible professionals from the healthcare field within the Sunshine State. Guests are encouraged to share sound best practices with each other and create a community of professionals that champion diversity and all of the benefits of an inclusive healthcare system.

Diversity training can be very beneficial and is essential to any organization’s success. However, training without proper execution is futile. Cultural Competence not only considers differences in the ethnicity, gender, religion, physical ability, social status, age, educational background, etc. of each individual, but also focuses on the actual application of lessons learned and skills obtained through academia, training, hands-on experiences, community outreach, employee resources groups, and daily interaction with patients and personnel.

The day will begin at 8 AM with registration, breakfast, and opening remarks from our emcee and moderator Carol Briggs, Vice President of South Miami Hospital. The Keynote address will follow featuring Pedro Greer, Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs and Chair of the Department of Humanities, Health and Society at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. After the Keynote address, an informative panel session will take place on the topic of Moving Beyond Diversity to Inclusion, including question and answer portion. The summit will conclude with closing remarks and recognition of speakers and sponsors who helped bring the event to fruition.

It is our hope that you will join us for this morning event in learning about current diversity & inclusion practices within the field of healthcare. For more information about the Healthcare Diversity Summit and to register to attend, please click  Register
