The Florida Diversity Council hosted the Inaugural Diversity in Action Roundtables throughout the month of February in each of its four chapters. This new event aimed to create awareness about the impact a non-inclusive environment can have on individuals and discuss some of the ways in which organizations and individuals can work together to promote the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and community.
This year’s roundtables took place on:
- Tampa Bay: February 2, 2017, Tech Data Corporation – The Raymond Center
- Orlando: February 10, 2017, Wyndham Vacation Ownership
- Jacksonville: February 17, 2017, Adecco Group
- South Florida: February 24, 2017, Broward Health Medical Center
Each event brought together four to five leaders from diverse backgrounds to share their personal stories and experiences that relate to facing adversity in society. During the roundtable discussions, attendees were able to engage in open discussion with fellow attendees to share their personal thoughts and experiences as well as brainstorm actionable steps for fostering inclusion within their personal lives.
Featured leaders spoke on topics relating to the symposium theme of “Building Bridges to Promote Inclusion.” This year’s topics included Race, Ethnicity, Gender, Religion, Sexual orientation/Gender Identity, and being an Ally. This year’s speakers represent many organizations across the state such as Adecco Group North America, Bank of America, GB Consulting, PNC Bank, Raymond James, University of Central Florida, Wyndham and many more.
