The National Diversity Council and ILDC have put on great events this quarter, one of which we highlight here:

The 2016 Illinois Leadership Conference took place on Tuesday, October 4th at Hilton Chicago. It was a refreshing and inspiring celebration of leadership in Chicago.

The morning began with a warm, welcoming breakfast and awards ceremony. Megan Cleghorn did the honor of introducing and serenading each award recipient for their prestigious influence and impact as leaders. The room was filed with endless laugher and praise as each honoree accepted their awards.

Conference attendees then participated in a series of breakout sessions relevant to diversity, inclusion, and development. From managing Millennials and building high performance teams, to creating a professional career toolkit and leading with emotional intelligence, attendees walked away with knowledge that could be applied immediately in work and personal life.

A second round of honorees were recognized as attendees indulged in an exquisite lunch and cake-pop themed desserts.

Finally, we heard an impactful keynote from David Bozeman, a Senior Vice President from Caterpillar who shared his perspective on leadership and imparted “Five Key Cs” to being an effective leader: Courage, Communication, Competency, Confidence, and Calm. The event was a great success. Thank you to all of the volunteers, council members, and sponsors who made the event possible.

We hope you will join us next year!
