The University of Georgia is one of 83 recipients of this year’s INSIGHT Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award. This annual award is given to institutions that demonstrate outstanding efforts and success in promoting diversity and inclusion throughout their campuses.
Over the past few years, UGA has stepped up its efforts to support diversity including opening a Student Veterans Resource Center, launching a Women’s Leadership Initiative, and opening The Intersection, a dedicated space for discussions on a range of topics, also in 2015. There are also more plans in the works. Destination Dawgs, a new inclusive post-secondary education program for students with intellectual or development disabilities, is set to begin in spring 2017.
As a HEED Award recipient, the university will be featured in the November issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity, the oldest and largest diversity magazine and website in higher education.
