The Michigan Diversity Council will be hosting the 2016 Michigan Diversity and Leadership Conference on November 15, 2016 at Wayne State University. The conference will feature multiple speakers presenting on a variety of topics. In addition, business leaders will be recognized with a series of awards highlighting their commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. This year’s theme is “Unconscious and Implicit Biases.”

“We are proud to honor business executives from the Michigan area who have championed the importance of diversity and inclusion in their organizations,” said Dennis Kennedy, Founder and Chairman of the National Diversity Council.

This full-day event will open at 7:30 a.m. with registration and breakfast. Throughout the day, a variety of notable speakers will lead workshops discussing diversity, leadership, and power. Headlines such as “Millennials in the Workplace,” “Creating a Diversity Strategy,” and “Top Leader Competencies” are only a few of the exciting featured workshops. Attendees will have the opportunity to share their thoughts during question and answer sessions following each discussion.

Two awards will also be presented at the Michigan Diversity & Leadership Conference: The Most Powerful and Influential Women Award and the Multicultural Leadership Award. During breakfast, top female business leaders will be presented with the Most Powerful and Influential Women Award. This award highlights women that exemplify undeniable leadership by demonstrating commitment to community, and significantly impacting company revenues and profitability. The Multicultural Leadership Award will be presented during the mid-day luncheon. This award distinguishes individuals from all backgrounds who are committed to fostering equality and demonstrate exceptional leadership skills.
