The goal of the Symposium is to promote the development of future leaders by providing young women access to mentors. It will focus on overcoming obstacles, dealing with change, and building self-esteem while learning about different careers. The theme for this year is “Love Your #Selfie”.
Dennis Kennedy, Founder & Chair, National Diversity Council says, “This valuable program is just one piece of the foundation needed to help these young ladies succeed and I am proud that the Texas Diversity Council has this opportunity to make a difference early in their lives.”
The young women, ranging from 6th-8th grade, will spend half a day on a Saturday participating in workshops such as:
- Leadership Now!
- Health & Wellness
- Social Media — What Does Your Billboard Say?
- Squad Goals: Who’s in Your Circle?
- Money Matters
Each of the young women will also have the opportunity to interact, in a small group setting, with at least one mentor who is a professional with at least 3-10 years of experience from an organization or company within their surrounding areas.
