The California Diversity Council hosted Diversity and Leadership Conferences on June 7, 2016 in Long Beach, CA and June 9, 2016 in San Francisco, CA. Attendees of the conference gained knowledge and advice from a number of prominent corporate leaders who shared insight from their personal success and leadership experience as professionals.

“I am extremely pleased with the success of the California Diversity and Leadership Conferences,” said Dennis Kennedy, Founder and Chair of the National Diversity Council. “This type of event offers a major contribution to the improvement of diversity and inclusion practices in the workplace.”

Both conferences began at 8:00 a.m. with an awards breakfast recognizing California’s Most Powerful & Influential Women. Additional awards presented throughout the day included the Multicultural Leadership award, the Multicultural Lead of the Year award, the DiversityFIRST™ awards, and the Diversity Leadership award. Each of these awards are reserved for outstanding business leaders who have made a difference through their achievements and exemplify the ability to excel in their field. In addition to their professional accomplishments, these awardees also demonstrate a commitment to the advancement of workplace diversity through inclusion and positive leadership. Between awards ceremonies, attendees had the opportunity to participate in workshops featuring dynamic discussion topics such as “Cross-Generational Competence,” “Essentials for Your Professional Toolbox,” and “Women of Color Leading with Excellence.” Following each discussion, participants were given the opportunity to share their thoughts during open question and answer sessions. Both conferences closed with a networking reception, allowing attendees and speakers to foster beneficial business connections and enrich their professional network.

The California Diversity Council would like to thank all the sponsors, speakers and attendees for their assistance in making this event a success. Event program booklets and photos can be viewed on our timeline.
