The National Diversity Council is proud to announce its DiversityFIRST™ Certification Program will be held in three different states in 2016. Due to last year’s positive response from the inaugural graduating cohort, the program will add another session this year in Texas and expand into California and Florida.

“The launch of our certification program last year was an overwhelming success, bringing various business professionals and academics together to share diversity best practices, collaborate in group projects, and discuss the importance of inclusive leadership in the 21st century,” said Dennis Kennedy, founder and chairman of the National Diversity Council. “This year, we plan to build on this success and continue to offer our graduates the tools they need to help their organizations move forward in the D&I space.”

With a highly qualified team of facilitators, the DiversityFIRST™ Certification Program blends theory and practice during a 5-day intensive curriculum focusing on the business case for diversity and inclusion, cultural competence, measurement and accountability, inclusive leadership, and best practices. Graduates of the program are recognized as National Diversity Council Certified Diversity Professionals (NDCCDP).

University of Houston-Downtown
The first session was held in Texas from August 15 to 19 and hosted by the University of Houston-Downtown’s College of Business. Over 15 business professionals attended the program and worked through the curriculum and in various groups to complete the course. An exam was administered on the final day, which upon completion awarded the NDCCDP designation among the graduates.

University of Phoenix
The second session will take place in California from October 17 to 21 at the University of Phoenix-Southern California Campus. Guest speakers at this event include Karen Clark, SVP of Marketing at City National Bank and Michael Geraghty, Director of Academic Affairs at the University of Phoenix-Southern California Campus.
